tailor your av to your operations

Seamless AV installations integrated for your industry.

Whether it's a classroom, a council chamber, or an arena, our AV design consultants start your project out by defining exactly what your space needs before we ever talk price, collaborating with our in-house engineers and programmers to integrate a setup that's specially designed with your industry in mind.

  • Audio, video and control are designed as one system.
  • Crestron, QSC and Extron interfaces are programmed in-house.
  • Interfaces stay simple enough to run without extra training.
  • Every install carries a warranty, plus ongoing service contracts.

An AV design process built around free consultation.

We start your AV project out with a one- to two-week design consultation process, all at no extra cost to you.

  • Consultation

An account manager or engineer works with you to define what the space needs.

  • Design

Engineering and programming staff design the system around your space and industry needs.

  • Installation

Our in-house technicians install your system, with programming handled by our own team.

  • Support

We provide ongoing service, troubleshooting, and takeovers once the system is live.

Almost every AV company buys and sells the same TV and the same speaker at roughly the same price. So cost is usually not a value — it's our service, our customer service.

Tim BoggsPresident, Thalner

Your AV system should be as unique as your business

Thalner has designed and installed commercial AV systems out of Ann Arbor, Michigan for 60 years, and the work has never really been one industry. We build AV designs for universities, corporate offices, healthcare facilities, municipalities, and arenas all across Southeast Michigan and beyond, tailoring every system we install to adhere to the buildings they host, the users who operate them, and the compliance requirements they need to abide by.

Most of our clients don't come to us knowing exactly which system they need. They know they have a room, a budget, and a problem to solve, whether it's a conference room that's hard to present in, a classroom that's outdated, or a command center that needs to talk to multiple departments at once. We take the time to properly assess your space and identify your AV needs, ensuring your system has everything it needs to cater to your staff and clients.

Total AV control designed with your business in mind

Nearly every project we take on touches more than one system category. A council chamber needs audio systems for public engagement and AV control systems for running staff meetings. A university lecture hall usually pairs classroom AV systems with the same control platform used in a nearby conference room, so IT only has to support one interface across a whole campus.

That overlap is why we have one team to design a system for all of it. Our in-house engineers and certified programmers write the interface once a space's needs are defined, then carry that design into installation, training and service. Whether a hospital waiting room needs digital signage for wayfinding and visitor management, or a corporate lobby needs a new video wall or mass notification system, every system we install is designed for the industry you're in and the space you occupy.

Ongoing AV support long after your system is installed

An AV system's first day of use isn't the finish line for us. In fact, you can say it's closer to the start. Every installation we perform includes a one-year warranty should any issues arise, along with maintenance contract options that put our technicians back on-site once or twice a year to check firmware, update software and catch problems before they become service calls.

Training happens the same way it's designed: the project manager and programmer who built your interface are the ones who train your staff on it, because they're the ones who know why it works the way it does. We leave behind user manuals and recorded training sessions, so new staff can get up to speed without calling us for a return visit (though we're glad to do that too, through our service department, when something needs a hands-on fix).

For clients with more than one location, our 25-plus year membership in the PSNI Global Alliance means we can bring in a vetted, trained affiliate to handle a repair or install outside our service radius, without asking you to coordinate multiple vendors yourself.

One AV partner for every type of industry

Every client we work with has a different room, a different set of users, or a different set of rules to work within, but the same design process, the same in-house engineers and programmers, and the same crew is who shows up for service calls whenever they need it. That consistency is what over 60 years or providing superior AV support in and around Ann Arbor gets you.

If you're looking for a trusted AV partner that can tailor solutions to your industry, Thalner is here to heed the call. Reach out to us today to schedule an AV consultation, assess your needs and goals, and start planning an AV system that works as hard as your company does.

FAQs

Questions we get about working across industries.

Most projects fit one industry, but some overlap — a hotel conference room, for example. Tell us about the room and what it needs to do, and we'll help you sort out the right system for it.

We're a Crestron and QSC house, and we also install Extron. Our four in-house certified programmers build custom interfaces on all three platforms, so the system fits how your team works.

Most projects move through design in one to two weeks, at no cost to you. From there, installation timelines run from about a week for a single room to well over a year for a large building.

No — we've been a commercial-only integrator for 60 years. We do not do any residential installs, so every system we design accounts for how a business, campus or public building operates.

Every installation includes a one-year warranty, and we offer ongoing maintenance contracts after that. Our service department handles repairs, firmware updates and system checks for clients we've supported for over a decade.

Over the years, our name has changed, our industry has evolved, and the technology we work with has advanced — but the people, relationships and commitment behind our work have always remained the same.

Today, we're bringing the Thalner name back with a refreshed identity that better represents who we are and what we do.

This isn't a new company. It's the next chapter of the same one.
